This is a well presented summary of common surgical procedures.
The purpose is to give a visual and organizational approach for young clinicians who will be faced with assisting with these procedures on their clinical rotations. The goal is very worthwhile as students commonly see only the actual procedure, but do not get exposed to the organizational aspects.
This is a tremendous asset for students, residents, and nurses who are requested to assist during procedures.
The graphics are some of the best I have reviewed, including some with superimposed images to show fetal positions and anatomy that may not be apparent.
This is an extraordinarily helpful book for students, nurses, and teaching purposes, and the full text and images are available online.

From the Author
As faculty in a large Family Medicine Residency in Seattle, we have worked to efficiently teach residents and fellows the core primary care procedures, based on the most recent evidence. In this Atlas, we have taken these core procedures and outlined key steps to prevent error and aid in learning. We have clear photos of the procedures with annotation where necessary. One of the most useful aspects of this text is access to online video tutorials of all these procedures. Video tutorials that are efficiently edited and aided by CG animations lead to rapid learning of difficult procedures with better recall than traditional text learning. We have found that by using these tools, learners can be better prepared when first attempting to perform the procedure under supervision. And practioners can refresh their skills in preparing to perform or teach these medical interventions.

Great and practical way to learn common medical procedures

Learning procedures, especially for medical students and residents in primary care settings, can be challenging because coordinating patients who need the procedures and students who need to learn can be difficult. This book addresses this challenge by providing excellent, step-by-step instructions both in hard copy in the book with crystal clear photos and on-line with easy to follow videos. While nothing can replace actually doing the procedure, this book with its videos comes close. Previewing the procedure before trying it builds confidence, and this book offers a convenient and instructive way to do so.
